Experts should determine what our kids are being taught, not politicians. But in Texas, where the elected State Board of Education members are setting curriculum for our schools, we need to have strong protections for transparency and openness.
This bill says curriculum amendments must be publicly posted 3 days before the Board of Education votes on them. And the Board would have to wait 24 hours after approving an amendment before voting on its final adoption.
