Hundreds of parents turned out Tuesday night in an attempt to find solutions to the problems at Johnston High School.
The Austin school is in danger of being closed down by the state.
Johnston has had low performance for four years in a row on the TAKS test.
It must dramatically improve just to stay open next year.
State Senator Kirk Watson hosted the forum. "I'm here tonight because I believe public education is a moral responsibility that all of us have."
Several campus goals were identified at the Tuesday meeting.
They include a commitment from parents and students to increase the attendance rate.
They also plan to get an adult advocate for every student at Johnston.
They want more students involved in school activities and in tutoring programs.
