Happy Thanksgiving
Tuesday, November 23, 2010 |
There's a chill in the air (well, sort of). There's surprisingly little traffic on the roads. Folks are beginning to take vacation, call in sick, or all-around zone out – unless they're on a football team (and maybe even then).
It must be the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
So let me wish you a happy holiday.
In case you've already scheduled a half-hour of Watson Wire time and don't know what to do with it now, check out the video from my speech last week laying out my Honesty Agenda for Texas's budget in the upcoming legislative session and beyond.
As I said last week, I really think that despite all the bad news you've heard about the session and the budget, we have a chance to make some very good fundamental changes in how the state manages taxpayers' money. My agenda will ensure that the state is far more honest in how it balances its finances, responsible in how it invests in Texans and takes advantage of technology, and far-sighted in how it plans and builds for Texas' future prosperity.
It's the sort of thing that should allow us to throw away labels, including party labels, and work together constructively. The Honesty Agenda is straightforward common sense – the kind of thing that should already be in place.
You can read the speech here. And here's a link to the video.
Finally, I'm very thankful for all of you who support me. I'm thankful for your contribution to our state. And I'm thankful that I get to serve you.
Be safe this week. Happy Thanksgiving.
