November 1, 2019
Today is a big day for the fight against cancer for a couple of reasons:
1. Go Vote for Proposition 6
It’s the last day to vote early for the constitutional amendment that will reauthorize Texas’ investment in cancer research and prevention. Texas has become home to groundbreaking work in cancer prevention and treatment because of the investment made by voters in 2007. By supporting Proposition 6, you’re helping to ensure that work continues.
Polls are open today until 7pm tonight. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 5.
2. It’s Movember 1st
For the past several years at this time, I’ve been growing out my beard. I do this, in part, because it looks so good….eventually. Admittedly, for a few days (some might say more than a few) I look like I’ve just given up on personal hygiene.
But mostly, I do it as part of Movember, which raises awareness around men’s health issues, such as testicular and prostate cancer as well as mental health. As a testicular cancer survivor, I’m alive today because of early detection and effective healthcare and want to ensure others have the same opportunity to survive and thrive that I did.
I hope you’ll join me by helping to spread the word and if you’d like to donate to the Movember effort, please go here.
