Opportunity Knocks – Let It In!
Thursday, September 18, 2008
Creating opportunity is the defining role of a public servant. Those in public office rarely miss a chance to declare the need for more of it. Politicians continually talk – yea, verily, they preach – about it. They demagogue on it.
They don't always succeed in creating it.
But I'm enjoying remarkable success creating opportunity.
And I want you to seize it.
You have the opportunity to spend some time with me on Thursday night. By itself, that is some pretty cool opportunity, if I say so my own self.
What? Not enough, you say? Well, there's also the opportunity to hear Blues Traveler play great, Grammy-winning music.
But, wait. There's even more. You have the opportunity to experience this great time in a great venue – out under the stars at Zilker Park here in Austin.
This is what political pundits might call a simply astonishing amount of real, meaningful opportunity.
Seriously, I hope you'll come to this great party. It's lots of fun every year.
Remembering our friends
While we're preparing for a good night in Zilker, our friends who are suffering from Hurricane Ike's devastation shouldn't be far from our minds and prayers.
I recently wrote to you about this. I hope you'll help those who need us by contributing to the American Red Cross here.
Thanks.
